Movies of 2014
So first of all let me wish you all a happy and beautiful 2015! Hope you get everything you want this year and may it be the best one yet :)

I just managed to reach my 50 films goal of the year. I saw 51 movies lol. And yes I finally saw 'Jurassic Park'!
The complete table is here

My top 10 films seen last year:

- Jurassic Park
- The Prince of Egypt
- The Grand Budapest Hotel
- Gone Girl
- Her
- The Hunt
- August: Osage County
- Snowpiercer
- Belle
- Inside Llewyn Davis

I still need to catch up with many of the oscar bait films but here are some from 2014 I enjoyed ALOT.

- The Grand Budapest Hotel
- Gone Girl
- Interstellar
- Snowpiercer
- Queen (bollywood)

Yes the Hobbit hasn't made it on any of the lists :( It left me disappointed *sigh*

So tell me your faves of year. Maybe top 5?

Oh no, The Hobbit :( Objective view I expected more character development and more interactions between the characters and so on. And even the battle was not so… thrilling because of leck of personal views of the characters. Subjective… I am to blinded by my love for this universe, I just don't want to see the negative sides ;-)
Still need to re-watch because I saw third part in a triple and wanna see the movie just for its own.

But yay for Interstellar :) Oh, I just need to watch The Grand Budepest Hotel!!! I've heard a lot of good things about the movie!!

Oh I'm pretty blinded by love for it which is why I could not understand why they messed up the end so bad :( could've been a whole lot better sigh. I'm waiting for the DVD though. Hopefully the extra footage will make me feel better about this whole thing.

OMG please watch Grand Budapest! It's my favorite film of 2014!

I watched The Hobbit twice now in cinema, found now some things I felt first bad about it now better!! But still I hope for some more scenes in the EE, esp. in the ending (miss ed the funeral scene and so on).

I am completely disappointed with the Hobbit. I haven't seen the last one but the first two have been pretty lackluster for me. I really liked Grand Budepest Hotel and Snowpiercer. I think my top 5 that I saw last year would be:

Snowpiercer, Dallas Buyers Club, Austenland, The Great Gatsby and Gone Girl.

Well yep overall the hobbit has been sort of a mess but i thought they could've atleast wrapped it up better :( Let me know if you watch it. I'm hoping a full DVD version will make me change my mind .

ooooh good choices! Snowpiercer was such a discovery! What an unexpected but great film <3 Gone Girl is just GAH! Have you read the book? you should if you haven't. DBC was alright. The acting was worth it. Have to disagree about Austenland. I thought it was terrible :( except for J.J. who was DIVINE!

Awwww...you didn't like Austenland? I thought it was hilarious. It was better than I thought it would be. I thought Gone Girl was good but not nearly as good as everyone else did but the acting was terrific. I haven't read the book but I think I might add it to the list. Now, if I can just get out of the reading slump.

nah I just thought Austenland was ridiculous and not even funny. I can forgive a movie for being silly if it's funny atleast. Yeah getting out of the reading slump is the hardest but sometimes all you need is a really great book ;)

Your books & movies lists are always most intimidating impressive and this one is no different! ♥

& I will shock you by saying that I may have watched as many as 15 movies this year! lol So I'm proud of myself too haha I guess my top 4 would be: Blue Jasmine, Captain Phillips, Nebraska &... Frozen! ^^ The Wolf of Wall Street could've been a good movie if they got a grip & revised the script on the occasion of using certain words WAY too much. I didn't like Her at all. I loved the concept & I was REALLY ready to love this movie, but I think it didn't deliver what it promised. It failed to make me care about any of the characters and without that, the movie just felt completely bland. August: Osage County was a good movie, but the problem is that there have been DOZENS of similar movies made in the past, with people behaving in the EXACT same way, the situation escalating in the EXACT same way, a family secret thrown in, etc. It just felt like total cliche. Other than that, it was good lol I'm planning on seeing Gone Girl next, um, this year ;)

Happy 2015!!! ♥

awww thanks bb hee hee. Don't be intimidated! 50+ isn't enough. People watch like 100+ lol

I feel like I'm the only person who hasn't seen Frozen yet but I will get to it this year I promise! All good choices. Ah TWOWS was a good film . Very enjoyable but honestly I felt like I needed a shower after I came home lol. Yep it was a bit OTT and vulgar. Could've been toned down. Um I liked 'Her'. I just loved the concept and the utopian setting. Not the greatest film but still very nice :)
I think Meryl's performance is what absolutely captivated me in August Osage. I think it's my favorite performance of her's so far.

OH YES! Please watch Gone Girl and read the book if you can. It's amazing!

Here's hoping 2015 is also a good year for film. Have a nice one bb !

I confess I've only been to the cinema once or twice this past year. The last film I saw very recently (last weekend in fact) was Exodus: Gods and Kings. I haven't seen any of the films on your list, dear. I've missed the cinema. :( Very busy this year. Hardly any time off to go.
visionsbeyond: christmasvisionsbeyond on January 6th, 2015 05:10 pm (UTC)
Awww maybe 2015 will be a better year for you movie-wise ;)
What did you think of Exodus: Gods and Kings? And have you seen 'The Prince of Egypt'?
elysium_22: <3elysium_22 on January 6th, 2015 05:57 pm (UTC)
You could definitely see the work that went in to making the film. Christian Bale's portrayal of Moses was-how should I say-much more subtle than I expected. I liked his interpretation of him. He was very good in it.
You could definitely tell it was a Ridley Scott film...very epic in scale. The script was not as detailed as I expected. I suppose the film covered such a vast expanse of material that it couldn't possibly be very detailed, but overall, something felt like it was missing in the the script. I don't know. Not sure... I suppose I'd rate it a 6/10. or **1/2 stars.
visionsbeyond: cityscapevisionsbeyond on January 11th, 2015 07:12 am (UTC)
Yeah I got that feel from the trailer. Epic but hollow. I don't like the historical liberties they took with the story and characters. I saw a clip of the parting of the red sea and it was so underwhelming. Also Moses was a shepherd. He didn't wear armor lol. I'll maybe watch it someday on DVd just for the epicness. For now I highly recommend you watch Prince of Egypt. It will make you forget about this one ;)

Still need to see "Belle"! But so glad you liked "Prince of Egypt" and enjoyed "Jurassic Parl" :))) Are you looking forward to "Jurassic World"?
visionsbeyond: christmasvisionsbeyond on January 6th, 2015 05:11 pm (UTC)
YES OMG! Jurassic Park and The Prince of Egypt! Both movies stand the test of time! I still can't believe how much I enjoyed both films :)
Yes actually I am. I don't see JW beating JP for me but I think it will be a fun cinema experience ;)
elysium_22: classicalelysium_22 on January 7th, 2015 07:16 am (UTC)
Forgot to answer your other question. No, I have not yet seen The Prince of Egypt, but I think I should.
visionsbeyond: christmasvisionsbeyond on January 11th, 2015 07:08 am (UTC)
Please do! It's very beautiful and they've kept in the religious themes and all very nicely :)
